Ayodele Adebayo A great father indeed October 8, 2012

I have very fond memories of Papa. One day, I paid Mama a visit and she said I should go upstairs to say hello to Papa. To my amazement, he was working in that office upstairs and I said to myself.....''You mean this man still works at his age" He had a large sheet of an architectural design he was looking at with one of his sons, I think Uncle Lanre. This was in September 1999.
This goes to show that Papa was a hard worker till his last days. There's so much to learn from his lifestyle: diligence, kindness and a loving character. He loved his wife and he showed it in every way. I love Mama and Papa and I respect them a lot. They inspire me.
God bless the Phillips family.

Abimbola Dada

Will you believe that last May 2007, dad went all the way to Chicago for Bisi’s wedding (his grand daughter) and back through London all on his own. When we were challenging him that someone would need to accompany him he said he wasn’t a baby to need a chaperone and had been traveling long before any of us were born. ……….That is Papa for you.

I remember that when you are agitated or worried about anything daddy would say “ Not to worry, it will work out fine, worrying wont solve anything, why not spend the time used in worrying to pray, etc”. ……..That’s Papa for you.

Daddy was strict, fair, kind, disciplined and taught us fantastic values. We were never spoilt in anyway. I remember when I was young he would ask you how much you had saved for a particular project and match your impute; so that if you had N10 saved, he would give you N10 and if you had N 1,000,000 saved he would give you the same…….. That’s Papa for you.

He gave us the best education that money could buy and trained us to live within our means. I remember when I was working as a graduate assistant in 1977 and got a car loan from the university. Unfortunately the money could only buy a non air-conditioned car. So I asked daddy to loan me the difference so I could buy an air-conditioned car. Guess what…. Daddy said no. I was to manage whatever I was given and that those in non-air-conditioned cars were human beings…… That’s Papa for you.
